Ultrasound Cavitation
Cavitation is an innovative method used for targeted removal of fat deposits and cellulite using ultrasound. This non-invasive and painless therapy offers quick, safe, and effective body contouring. It’s important to note that cavitation is effective for destroying localized fat deposits but is not recommended as a solution for excessive obesity.
The ultrasound cavitation process involves the penetration of ultrasonic waves to a precisely determined tissue depth, focusing exclusively on fat cells in the targeted region. This selectivity ensures the protection of internal organs, as the penetration depth is shallow enough. Fat from the fat cells is released into the intercellular space, where it is broken down by enzymes into glycerol and free fatty acids.
The water-soluble glycerol enters the lymphatic system, joining metabolic processes for energy production. On the other hand, the non-soluble free fatty acids travel to the liver for breakdown. It’s important to note that the amount of released triglycerides remains small and does not significantly increase blood triglyceride levels.
The interval between two cavitation treatments should be at least 5–7 days to allow the body sufficient time to hydrolyze the released triglycerides and eliminate the byproducts of fat cell breakdown. Each session is limited to a maximum of 50 minutes to adhere to the recommended upper limit of ultrasound exposure. Although the method is non-invasive and painless, it is recommended to undergo no more than 6 sessions per cycle, followed by a one-month break.
This treatment frequency allows for effective targeting of various body areas, including the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, hips, inner knees, upper arms, and more. It is essential to tailor the approach to each patient and treat specific regions based on individual needs.
After treatment, one may feel slight tingling and warmth in the treated area due to heat generated during the procedure. Additionally, a distinct sound—gentle “buzzing”—can be heard, resulting from the use of low-frequency ultrasound. This sound, near the limit of human hearing, contributes to the treatment experience.
